House II, Farmington Hills
<--Previous Up Next-->

House II was built in the early 1970's and is located in Farmington HIlls on Tuck Road. It shares a beautiful acre of land with House I and our Notre Dame apartments. Currently there are 15 residents who range in age from their mid 30's to their late 60's. Everyone works very hard at various supported employment sites through the week and when not working they keep busy with enriching activities. Sundays are the ladies' "pamper me" day, where they get their hair and nails done; Mondays residents work on arts and crafts at the home; Tuesdays and Thursdays everyone attends night school; Fridays are game night; every Saturday they attend bowling and once a month the group goes to the movies! Obviously there is no idle time at this house!
The consumers at House II are very active in maintaining their home. all residents participate in household chores (like making their lunch, setting and clearing the table, loading the washing machine and vacuuming). Wednesday night is room cleaning night. All residents do as much as they can for themselves to keep their room clean. Staff help finish the other things that need to be done.
Several years ago the basement of the home was remodeled and has enough workout equipment for the exercise group to utilize when it's too cold to exercise outside. Exercise is conducted by professional personal trainers, hired from a grant received from Hitachi Corporation. A separate room was also included during the remodeling and is used for staff meetings and training.
The most recent addition to the home is a beautiful, huge, country-like porch, large enough for everyone in the home to enjoy some lemonade on a hot summer day!
